CASBC is the only Provincial body exclusively dedicated to climbers and their access issues. Historically, our access work was through individual stakeholders interested in protecting an area. Within the last ten years, the number of areas and stakeholders increased to the point it became prudent to develop and work with local climbing organizations (LCOs). The knowledge and skills CASBC acquired in it's first 20 years is now flowing into LCOs - they are the forefront in creating agreements with Land Managers, protecting access, establishing new climbing areas and tending the environment.
With contributions from our donors and members, we channel funds to LCOs for access infrastructure, provide legal and business advise, develop and share best practices guidelines and aid and assist in any way to ensure the crags, cliffs and mountains remain accessible.
